The list of open sea-river vessels keeps growing in the Azov Sea. Amid almost complete absence of spot grain offers ex Russian ports, owners of such fleet have to compete for few offers seen in deep-sea ports of the Black and Mediterranean Seas; some owners decide to lay up ships until the start of the new season. At present, the deal for transportation of 2,000 t of wheat from Rostov to TBS is discussed at around $12/t. Owners of overaged vessels are ready to ship 3,000 t of grain from Azov/Rostov to the Marmara Sea at $13/t, while owners of a new-built ship with good specs have managed to get $15/t on the same route. The deal for shipment of 3,000 t of coal from Rostov to the Marmara Sea has been signed at $12/t, while another charterer offers at best $11/t on this route.
Note that traders gradually start checking the market levels for July laycans (the start of new crop grain shipments). Deals for transportation of 3,000 t of grain from Rostov to the Marmara Sea with 1H July laycans are discussed at $18-19/t, those for shipments to EMed at low $30s/t. Also, ship owners are seeking to get at least $8.5-9/t for transportation of 3,000 t of grain to Kavkaz roads bss free DA bends in July..
